Well, i've tried them all and in my opinion the best user expririence you get on Android (4). Why?

iOS -- awesome, smooth etc, but there's no customization at all. No widgets? Come on, it's the 21 century... Installing apps only via the AppStore sucks. iTunes, god i hate Steve and his crew for it. Other than that, it's a great os.

Win7 -- awesome for non-iT people (my mom just loves it). Simple, enormous icons, all the needed info on a single screen, support for native apps (win8 promises). As for drawbacks: no customization (even less than in iOS), actually you can't change anything except for the icons on the desktop.

Android -- awsome. Fully customizable (you can even define the transition duration, delay, type for system notifications etc). Widgets, custom apps, mass storage mode, boot loader etc. Cons: only one -- apparently you will have to wait another 1/2 year until your phones company adopts the next version of android. That's why if decide to by an android phone, make sure it to be from Google (they get the latest updates asap).

I have an HTC Incredible, which currently has Android 2.3 on it. However, I use the Launcher 7 app, because I don't care for Android's aesthetics, so that app makes it look like Windows Phone.

I guess I'm just that pain in the ass who screws with polls. I'm voting Windows Phone, simply because f**k Android and f**k Apple.

<b>2pavan</b>
If there's a movieclip 'mc' with a textfield 'bannerTxt', then you should try to set the parentalRelation param and the code should be like:

[code="as3"]
AlignUtil.setAlign(AlignUtil.H_CENTER, bannerTxt, mc, true);
AlignUtil.setAlign(AlignUtil.V_MIDDLE, bannerTxt, mc, true);
[/code]

You are welcome :)

Hi Mate,

Thanks for sharing this class. Just trying to use it to align a textfield in a movieclip

But the AlignUtil.V_MIDDLE doesn't seem to work, can you please help me how i can use it. Here is the code. I need horizontal and vertical center the textfield.

AlignUtil.setAlign(AlignUtil.H_CENTER, bannerTxt,this,false)
AlignUtil.setAlign(AlignUtil.V_MIDDLE, bannerTxt,this,false)

I wouldn't be that sure. And i don't think that we have to get rid of either technologies.
I really don't like iphones, but i don't really want them to leave the market. Having a choice is better than not

Hi, sorry for so many questions.
finally I can use .getDuration() & .getCurrentTime() to check the vimeo reaches the end and then seek(0).

However I discovered another problem is the mouse over area.
I have set the vimeoPlayer not at [0,0], but the mouse over area (to show/hide the control bar) still lying at [0,0] all the time.
i.e. if I set my vimeo player: x=200, y=100, width=400, height=300
the mouse over area: x=0, y=0, width=400, height=300

Thx! I tried to added your 1st script into VimeoPlayer.as but didn't work:

moogaloop.addEventListener("finish", onFinishHandler);
private function onFinishHandler(event:Event):void
{
seekTo(0);
}

Then I tried your 2nd solution but still not working.
I've create a dynamic textfield called "a", assigned it to be "0", then do the following:

function onVimeoPlayerApiReady(event:Event):void{
  vimeoPlayer.player.addEventListener("finish", onFinishHandler);
  MovieClip(root).a.text="1";
}
function onFinishHandler(event:Event):void{
  vimeoPlayer.seekTo(0);
  MovieClip(root).a.text="2";
}

The result is, when the vimeo starts playing, it changes to "1". And after it finished, didn't change to "2".
I wonder if "finish" Event handler is working or not. Is there other methods to check whether the vimeo has finished the playback?

You've got to listen for the event on the moogaloop instance inside the class:
[code="as3"]
moogaloop.addEventListener("finish", onFinishHandler);

private function onFinishHandler(event:Event):void
{
// since i've already implemented the the seek() method, just call it
seekTo(0);
}
[/code]
If you want to listen for that event outside the class i.e. on the class instance, you will have to create a reference to the moogaloop in the class and add a listener on the linked moogaloop reference:
VimeoPlayer.as add:
[code="as3"]
public function get player():Object
{
return (moogaloop) ? moogaloop : null;
}
[/code]
How to use:
[code="as3"]
var vimeoPlayer:VimeoPlayer = new VimeoPlayer();
vimeoPlayer.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onVimeoPlayerApiReady)
vimeoPlayer.setSize(550, 360);
vimeoPlayer.load("video link here");
addChild(vimeoPlayer);

function onVimeoPlayerApiReady(event:Event):void
{
  // now since we can reference to the actual moogaloop we add listener
  vimeoPlayer.player.addEventListener("finish", onFinishHandler);
}
function onFinishHandler(event:Event):void
{
  vimeoPlayer.seekTo(0);
}
[/code]

Thanks for reply, it works!
How about the event handler listed at the bottom of this page: http://vimeo.com/api/docs/moogaloop-as
Can i also use them to check if the video finishes, back to and stop at the 1st frame of the movie?

I tried the following, but doesn't work:
[code="as3"]
vimeoPlayer.addEventListener("finish",BackToBegining);
function BackToBegining(event:Event):void{
            e.target.seek(0);
}
[/code]
Thx!

Sure, you can pass a bunch of vars to the moogaloop player through the params object, just like the "fullscreen" or "disable_keyboard" vars are defined and set in the VIMEO_LINK constant.
For example join the default VIMEO_LINK value with "&autoplay=1" etc
The full list of available commands is available here <a href="http://vimeo.com/api/docs/player" rel="nofollow">http://vimeo.com/api/docs/player</a>.
[code="as3"]
// Moogaloop player api link
private static const VIMEO_LINK:String = "http://a.vimeocdn.com/p/flash/moogaloop/5.1.24/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=%clip_id%&width=%width%&height=%height%&fullscreen=0&disable_keyboard=1";

Hi,

I'm using your .as file to embed my vimeo videos into swf. Thanks!
BTW, I'd like to know if I can customize the player:
autoplay=1
title=0
portrait=0

Should I edit the .as file? and How?
Or done by actionscript??
thx

"The FPS drop happens when FP fails to complete frame code during planned frame execution time."
>> yeap, that's the only case and it's almost every time related to display objects operations, especially in game dev. I guess i'll make a two-way implementation time-base or frame-based of the delays.

"I mean why getter/setter? In that code it’s totally equal to public var."
>> habit ^_^

ps: хм.. должны, я проде не отключал

0. The FPS drop happens when FP fails to complete frame code during planned frame execution time. The crashing happens when frame execution time is longer then N ms. So I see frame-based delays are more precise and make more sense for development. That's why I personally expect delay to be in frames rather then seconds. In other words: seconds-based delay does not guarantee your code will be distributed on separate frames:

var frameCounter:uint = 0;
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onEnterFrame);

var timer:Timer = new Timer(5);
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, onTimer);
timer.start();

function onEnterFrame(event:Event):void
{
	trace("frame ", ++frameCounter);
}

function onTimer(event:TimerEvent):void
{
	trace("timer");
}

output:
frame  1
timer
frame  2
timer
frame  3

frame  4

>But why is delay in milliseconds?
as the native flash api (timers) usually uses milliseconds (enterframe execution time depends on rendering, whether timers don't)

> Queue#(item:IQueueItem):void - why not check for item existence?
hm... nice suggestion, put in the todo
UPD: nope, as it depends on the task, you might want to add same item at different indexes. it's better to implement the contains() method, so that you check for item existence if needed

> Queue#addItemAt(item:IQueueItem, index:int):void / Queue#removeItemAt(index:int):Boolean - why not use uint instead of int type
int is faster

> Queue#removeItem(item:IQueueItem):Boolean - is the for loop faster than indexOf?
yeap, indexOf is slower

> What's the point in items, position setter/getters?
items - so that you could get the entire stack (just in case)
position - so that you could manage to skip items while running the queue. In the demo above follow these steps: run the queue, pause at any desired index (10 for instance), after that change the current head position to 15 (that would skip the items from 10-14) and press the start button.

Comments are much appreciated btw

--------

1. Queue#(item:IQueueItem):void -

2. Queue#addItemAt(item:IQueueItem, index:int):void - а почему не uint?
> int шустрее, проверку добавлю, да.

3. Queue#removeItem(item:IQueueItem):Boolean - цикл быстрее indexOf?
> цикл шустрее

Looks very handy. But why is delay in milliseconds? FP deals with frames anyway.

Ну и так всякие поверхностные вопросы:

1. Queue#(item:IQueueItem):void
а не проверять ли на наличие

2. Queue#addItemAt(item:IQueueItem, index:int):void
а почему не uint — так не нужно было бы проверять if(index < 0
ну и опять таки проверка на наличие?

Queue#removeItemAt(index:int):Boolean

3. Queue#removeItem(item:IQueueItem):Boolean
цикл быстрее indexOf?

4. Смысл геттеров/сеттеров для items, position?

Malice wasn't the goal of this post. I'm not an adobe evangelist, and it's not the preconception. You study the problem, then you study the possible solution. Say u need to embed a video on your web, u'd possible prefer html5 for its reasonable advantages (easy to generate from db for eg), create a large media site (ny times site eg) -- use ajax and ccs as there's lots of text info and flash/sl don't get along with tons of text, plus your visitors will surely use wide range of devices driven by android/ios/blackberry.
I just don't like when people flatter such "killer tech". U always have to be objective.

<strong>TAP</strong> >> awesome chars u made there. Btw i think your charts may be of use for our new project. I'll contact u via email soon.

Yeap, to be honest, i just can't see the practical need for converting flash 5/6/7/8 simple animations (actionscript is part supported, morph shapes aren't supported, neither filters are etc) to html5.
Why? Coz this banners don't use a milligram of your cpu and their weight is so tiny that my 50 mbit connection can't even notice the download progress (size vary 0-100 kb).
Further more, as3 and fp 9 are not supported. So, what's the point?

ps: no, really love the video and audio html5 tag and the ccs3, but guys large html5 mvc project, on js? Seriously? ^_^

Google PR in response: "These aren't the SVG and JS code you are looking for..."
Readers: "Yes this is a faked case"
Google PR: "Move along, move along"
Readers: "Stoopid Flash guy making a case for a dying tech"

[end-snark]

Cross compilers aren't new tech, it will be imperfect at best and don't get into performance. BTW Flash 5/6 what are we going back approaching 10 years?

I don't care either way, we make our charting stuff work in both and have found that the nonsense that passes for discussion on this topic is sad. I am personally happy you at least tried the tool (we did too) before hyping or slagging it.

Ran your code in flash ide cs5 under fp 10,3,181,14 debug -- no warnings thrown.
Yeah, the drawing api (the vector drawing api) is thought really weird with lots of anomalies (eg if not calling the graphics.clear() method before redrawing the graphics, this will lead to memory leaking etc i've got a whole collection of those :)

Interesting feature you found there :) I just ran into the weirdest thing with the draw API myself. I get a "warning" when compiling this code:

import flash.display.Graphics;
import flash.display.LineScaleMode;
this.graphics.lineStyle(2,0,1,true, LineScaleMode.NORMAL);

Do you have this same issue?

(I posted a bug report and found my way around it, but thought it funny to come across this when I was just hacking around with the draw API myself :) )
